Pass Plus FAQs
What is Pass Plus?
Pass Plus is an official training course aimed at new drivers, designed by the DVSA to be taken within the first year of passing your driving test. It covers six modules that go beyond the standard test, including motorway and night driving. There is no exam at the end - your instructor assesses you throughout.
Does Pass Plus reduce insurance in Croydon?
Many insurers offer a discount to drivers who complete Pass Plus, which can be especially valuable for new drivers facing high premiums. The discount varies by insurer, so check with yours. The course often pays for itself in the first year.
Can I do Pass Plus in an automatic car?
Yes. Pass Plus can be taken in either a manual or automatic car. Because you already hold a full licence, the transmission restriction from your test no longer applies in the same way - check with your instructor.
How long does Pass Plus take?
Pass Plus takes a minimum of six hours and is usually spread over a few sessions. Your Croydon instructor will tailor the timing to cover each of the six modules, including a motorway session on the M25 or M23.
Is there a test at the end of Pass Plus?
No. There is no formal test. Your instructor assesses your performance across all six modules and, once you reach the required standard in each, submits your completion report so you receive your Pass Plus certificate.
